Resources for the Business Sector
Quick Facts
We need accurate and complete data for mission critical decision-making. Companies use population and demographic data from the Census to determine where to set up shop and expand, creating jobs and generating opportunities for Texans. Businesses look at school data and educational attainment when making workforce investments. Businesses of all types use census data to identify markets, select business locations, make investment decisions in plants, equipment, and new product development, determine goods and services to be offered, and assess labor markets. Also, here’s a snapshot of how Census data leads to crucial funding in Texas counties.
Start by telling them why Census data helps your business. Then invite them to become a Census Champion — introduce them to TexasCounts.org and encourage them to sign up and explore resources and contribute to the conversations in the crowd-sourced discussion forum. Here is a great resource to share with them. Encourage your employees to complete the Census and to be involved in helping others complete their Census questionnaires. Texans deserve to be counted.
For years, the Census Bureau’s American Factfinder site has been a crucial resource for businesses to understand key facts about the communities they serve. It is being replaced in 2020 by data.census.gov. Go to data.census.gov, look up Texas, and discover how Census data can help your business!
